We are pleased to invite you to a drawing workshop with Guest Artist, Tsuki Garbian, one of Israel’s finest draftsmen. This workshop offers an in-depth study of drawing, inspired by the technical skill and compositions of Old Masters.
Participants will learn to translate observation into line and tone, to plan compositional foundations and will develop awareness of structure, tonality and drama of drawing.
Welcome to join us for a group setting, ensuring personalized instruction for each participant!
Workshop Plan:
Part 1 – Warm-Up Sketching
- Quick sketching exercises to loosen up, strengthen hand-eye coordination, and improve speed of reaction.
- Studying fragments of paintings to gain insight into full compositions through tonal abstraction and light distribution into four main values.
- Linear abstraction: Breaking down the image into lines, and geometric shapes.
- Tonal structure: working from dark to light using erasure techniques and drawing with both hands.
Part 2 – In-Depth Drawing on Quality Paper
- Creating a structured composition using a diagonal grid for precise observation, and transcription of forms.
- A step-by-step approach to tone application, simplifying forms for in-depth understanding of tonal composition.
- Exploring different tonal techniques to create depth and drama in the drawing.
Workshop Objectives:
- Develop a deep understanding of drawing as a foundation for tonal composition in paintings.
